Walk Into A Completely Different Room

Finally, the day has arrived. The one you’ve been picturing since you were a girl — dress sorted, bridesmaids sorted, hair and makeup sorted. You’re the one everyone’s looking at today, and rightly so.

You get through the ceremony without tripping over your vows. The sun’s out (or it isn’t, and you don’t care either way). There’s laughter, there’s a few happy tears, and you’re thinking nothing could top this.

Then you walk into the reception.

Here’s a confession: I’m never going to be mother of the bride. I’ve got two lads, so the big white dress, the “which shoes go with this” conversations, all of that — it’s just not coming my way. I think that’s exactly why I care so much about getting it right for the brides I work with. This is somebody’s one shot at the day they’ve imagined for years, and I take that seriously. Every arch, every arrangement, every balloon gets the same attention I’d want if it were my own daughter walking into that room.

So when you walk in and see it — the room dressed exactly how you pictured it, maybe better — that’s the moment I’m working toward the whole time.

And the finishing touch, the bit people always comment on?

The balloons.
