Jacqui's Journey

When the phone rings at 10 O’Clock at night…it’s rarely a good thing. But this call, 32 years ago, REALLY changed my life for the better.

“Jacqui! I’ve had a great idea!”.

She practically yelled down the phone at me. This was my friend, in a rather excited state! When she’d calmed down, she went on to tell me about the amazing balloon decor she’d seen at an event she was attending.

Knowing me as well as she did, she pointed out that this might just be the perfect career change I was looking for,  which after 15 years as a tax inspector, I was beginning to feel that I’d taken my corporate career as far as I could and I craved a new challenge).

To start with I was sceptical. But, intrigued by her enthusiasm, I started to investigate the industry. Soon I found that far from just making balloon animals for children’s parties, a career in balloon decor could really be the change I was looking for.

I could satisfy my creative side, where my eye for detail would also be really useful and my need to really make people happy would have an outlet too. So I sought out the best balloon artist in the country and went along to learn everything I could.  Shortly, “The Ultimate Balloon Company” was born and I got my very first customers.

Eventually I became a fully qualified balloon artist and the business started to take off (no pun intended!) the rest, as they say, is history.  History that has seen me working with the likes of Coca Cola, Tina Turner, the Rolling Stones, Vodafone, Amazon, Coronation Street and even the Royal family!

These days I’m one of the longest-serving members of BAPIA (the Balloon and Party Industry Alliance) and internationally qualified in balloon artistry – but every job still gets exactly the same attention to detail as that very first one.

Whether it’s a wedding, a party, or a corporate event, I never leave a room until it’s as good as I can possibly make it. Because when you’re organising an event like that, and you need it to be an unrivalled success, you want people around you who take it as seriously as you do.

Every December I go down to London to work with my fellow BAPIA colleagues to create a fabulous party for the Great Ormond Street Hospital. Outside of balloons, I’m a Great Britain age-group triathlete, and I coach a community triathlon group for people who’d never call themselves “sporty” but fancy giving it a go anyway.

So drop me an email or give me a call to find out how Yorkshire’s premier balloon artist can help make your next celebration a day you and your guests will never forget.
