Why wouldn’t a billionaire have balloons at his party?
Strange title for a blog you might think but actually it’s quite appropriate
In October I received a phone call from a film company who asked me if I would be able to provide some special balloon décor for a production they were filming at the magnificent Wentworth Woodhouse in Rotherham.
My answer was of course a big fat YES, who wouldn’t want to be part of providing venue décor at this magnificent stately home. If you want to learn about the Fitzwilliam family who owned the majority of land in South Yorkshire then you can find out about them from this link The Fitzwilliams
As I am a Rotherham lass I know all about Wentworth Woodhouse and I have always wanted to do some balloon décor in the house so this was a dream job for me.
As the client knew exactly what they wanted and was still on crutches from my recent ACL Reconstruction we did all our consultations by phone and email so I was booked. All I had to do now was order the balloons and make sure that I had a chauffeur to drive the balloon van as I was still unable to drive.
The day before I prepped all the balloons and as they needed to last so I treated my Qualatex balloons with ultra hi float and I was confident that they would last at least a week.
Up early the next day as everything had to be ready on set before 12 noon. Driving up to Wentworth Woodhouse we saw all the film trucks and tried to see if we could see any of the stars, David Walliams, John Tomson and Catherine Tate but we didn’t so winding our necks back in we unloaded our van and took all the balloon designs into the hall.
Wow is all I can say the entrance hall takes your breath away and we still had to go to the ballroom. The ballroom was set, up for one heck of a party……photo booth, chocolate fountain….disco…loads of ostentatious props it was fabulous.
Ultimate Balloon had originally been asked to provide floor standing balloon bouquets and poseur table bouquets and as we installed these the producer came and asked me if there was any possibility of making a fabulous balloon arch for the doorway as he said and I quote
“Why wouldn’t a Billionaire have balloon arch at his birthday party it needs to be fabulous”
I had 2 hours to get it installed………
Back to my workshop inflate and make a swirl garland balloon arch, deliver a job for help the heroes at the Kenwood Hall in Sheffield and then race back to Wentworth to install the arch. But when you are a professional balloon artist this is all in a days work and we completed the job with time to spare.
Needless to say the producer was over the moon with the balloon arch and I have to say it did finish the room off. As the job was top secret I as unable to let people know what we had been up to and not take any photos.
Have you guessed yet?………….
